Webinar: LGBTQ+ Know Your Rights: In Health Care

LGBTQ+ Know Your Rights: In Health Care

As we celebrate Pride Month, the NYS Division of Human Rights, in partnership with the NYS Department of Health, New Pride Agenda, and Capital Region Pride Center will host a webinar on LGBTQ+ rights in health care. New York State law prohibits health care providers from engaging in discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. However, welcoming and affirming health care is not always available to the LGBTQ+ community.

We will hear from health care providers, advocates, and other stakeholders about what is being done to expand the availability and amplify the importance of culturally competent health care services as well as the legal protections available to individuals that encounter discrimination or bias when seeking or receiving health care. We will also explore best practices and innovative programs that are being implemented to educate providers and better serve LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.

Registration for the program is open now.

This program will be captioned and have ASL interpretation. If you require any other accommodation for a disability to join, please email [email protected] or call 718-741-8332.
