HIV/AIDS Discrimination

Persons living with HIV/AIDS have the right to be free from discrimination under the New York State Human Rights Law. These protections cover employment, housing and access to places of public accommodation. Should you experience discrimination because of your HIV status, you have rights. Anti-Discrimination/Harassment Guidance

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo signed legislation on October 21, 2015 designed to prevent discrimination and harassment in the workplace. The legislation directed DOL and DHR to make training available to employers to help them develop policies, procedures, and their own training to address and eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
